Holistic education that emphasizes body, mind and spirit
As 1 of only 13 schools in the country endorsed by the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation, we emphasize treating the whole patient within the broader context of his or her overall health and lifestyle, including spiritual, cultural and psychosocial aspects. We believe that teaching holism is vital in preparing future nurses to meet the challenges inherent in 21st century health care.
Our curriculum emphasizes interprofessional learning. Our nursing students regularly collaborate in integrated teams with students from the School of Health Sciences and School of Medicine, both of which share a campus with the School of Nursing. All are invited to attend guest lectures and other events that bring renowned leaders in the nursing profession to campus. These experts share their perspectives on the many challenges facing today’s health care providers, as well as where the field is headed.
With more than 300 clinical affiliations, we’ll make sure you have many opportunities to put that holistic care theory into practice. You'll work with patients in a variety of settings, including acute care teaching hospitals, urban clinics, primary care practices and veterans' care facilities.
