Students in Professor Katie Place’s public relations campaigns class didn’t simply learn the nuts and bolts behind effective PR campaigns. For their final group projects, they had to operate as actual firms would, pooling their strategic communications skills to craft real plans for increasing public exposure and audience engagement. Perhaps most importantly, they experienced what it means to stand behind their ideas. As they pitched them to representatives from The Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce and the nonprofit Sunshine Kids, they knew there was more on the line than a letter grade and some professional feedback.

Faculty Spotlight

Professor Antoaneta Vanc teaches a course on principles of advertising and public relations Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in the Center for Communications and Engineering on Quinnipiac's Mount Carmel Campus.

Strategic communication professor Antoanetta Vanc didn’t arrive to academia in the usual way. Her journey from national tennis champion in her birth country of Romania to investigative reporter for Romanian National Television and finally to the School of Communications at Quinnipiac has been a long and truly inspiring one. One thing that is certain is that since arriving to the Quinnipiac community, Vanc has brought the the same focus and passion to teaching that she did to the tennis court, and for her efforts was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2015.

Curriculum and Requirements

If accepted, you can take up to 6 credits of graduate courses beginning in the fall semester of your senior year with the permission of the graduate public relations director. Those credits can be applied to both undergraduate and graduate programs. You will then complete the remaining requirements for the master's degree in the following year.

Admissions

Only currently enrolled students may apply to this program. Applications will not be accepted until junior year. Application requests, requirements and general counseling with happen directly with an advisor from the School of Communications.
